I decided that from now on I'm just going to post stories that I've written. Just for fun. Here's one called Pepper and Sage:

Pepper and Sage

In the city of Queso there was a very popular and beautiful mouse named Pepper Queso. Pepper’s father was the founder of Queso town. Pepper grew up on Monterey Jack Lane. All the cheese stores were just on the corner of Cheddar and Havarti, right across the street from Monterey Jack Lane. When Pepper turned 16 months old she was allowed to go on her first date. Pepper was just so excited. She knew that when she went to Queso High the next morning every mouse boy was going to ask her out. When Pepper woke the next morning her heart was a flutter. She danced across the floor to her yellow dresser. She couldn’t decide what shade of yellow or orange fit her best.

She skipped to her desk which was in the far corner of her room. She picked up her Orange Munster phone and called up her bestest friend Sage. Pepper heard one ring before she heard Sage’s high sweet voice “Hello?” said Sage. “Hi Sage, How are you this fine morning?’’ said Pepper. Sage replied instantly “I’m just great, I’m so excited for today. It’s going to be the best day ever.’’ Pepper answered “Why is that?’’ Sage’s high voice sang “I’m 16 months old today!!!!” Pepper was stunned, she couldn’t believe that Sage, her bestest friend could ever take this special day away from her. That exact instant Pepper pushed the end call button. Pepper’s thoughts were full of hatred for Sage. She thought “how could Sage be so cruel as to turn 16 months old today too?’’ “The very day I turned 16.’’ She said aloud.

A loud CHEESE, CHEESE, CHEESE, came from her Munster phone. Pepper looked at the Caller I.D. and saw the words Bestest Friend. Pepper didn’t know what to do. She didn’t know whether she should answer and express her feelings or just leave the phone alone and pretend that she hadn’t heard the ring. Pepper chose the latter. Pepper took slow mournful steps toward her dresser and chose the Cheddar cheese colored shirt and the Parmesan cheese colored shorts. She then walked slowly down her long staircase to the kitchen. Her maid had set out an assortment of her favorite cheese slices. On any regular day Pepper would have been overjoyed. But today Pepper was not in the mood for Mozzarella, Ricotta, Cheddar, Gouda, or Pepper Jack cheese. Pepper wanted something a little more special. She went to the cheese box and took out a small square of her father’s most prized cheese, Provolone. Provolone wasn’t easy to come by in the small town of Queso.

Pepper looked at her Mickey Mouse watch and saw that it was almost 8 o’clock. School starts at 8:15. Pepper ran through the dining hall into the main foyer. She opened the door, and ran to her bright, vibrant, yellow Montasio BMW. She hopped in her Montasio, and drove to Queso High.

When Pepper arrived at Queso High her mind had forgotten all about Sage and was now focused on all the boys that were going to ask her out. She jumped out of her Montasio happier than the moment she had woken up that morning. She had a large vibrant smile upon her face. She dashed to the doors of Queso High, opened them up and then tripped upon an up turned rug. It just so happened that her no longer bestest friend Sage was right there with a line of boys following her, exclaiming to her how pretty and wonderful she was. Pepper was embarrassed beyond belief. Everyone looked at her and laughed, including Sage.

When Pepper saw Sage, all her emotions from that morning, came rolling back in one huge sweep. Sage saw Pepper’s tear streaked face and then realized how embarrassed she must be. Sage ran to Pepper and told Pepper to come to the girl’s room with her. Pepper decided that following Sage would be better than sitting in the middle of the floor with everyone looking at her.

When Sage and Pepper reached the bathroom, Sage turned to pepper and asked “Why did you hang up on me this morning?’’ Pepper turned her face away and in small whisper she lied and said “My battery died.’’ Sage was then filled with joy, for she thought that she had done something to upset Pepper. Sage turned to Pepper and gave her the biggest brightest smile and said “So, guess what?’’ Pepper turned to Sage and in a muffled sob said “What?’’ “Mike Mouse asked me to Homecoming!’’ replied Sage. Pepper thought her small heart had just stopped. “Mike Mouse, he said he was going to ask me out when I turned 16. That lying mouse, how dare he ask Sage my used to be bestest friend. I must warn Sage, I guess I could put the whole, turning 16 on the same day as me behind me for now.’’ Pepper turned to Sage and said in her sweetest most concerned voice “Sage, Mike Mouse is a lying mouse. You really ought not to go to Homecoming with him.’’ “Why, whatever did he do?’’ replied Sage. “He told me he was going to ask me to Homecoming.’’ Sage looked at Pepper and said “Well I guess that I will have to call him on my Parmesan phone, and tell him that I can’t and won’t go with him to Homecoming.’’

Pepper felt wonderful when she heard Sage say those words. Pepper then realized how good of a friend Sage was. She decided that turning 16 on the same day as Sage was pretty cool and not bad at all. From that day forth, until Pepper and Sage turned 17 they were bestest friends.
